School House Rock - Shot Heard 'Round the World (America Rock)

This video was on an American perspective that, according to the British was astray. The British thought that they were being scrupulous when they inspected the Americans' houses for weapons. The British must have thought that they would reign victorious when the British won the Battle of Bunker Hill. The French and Spain only aided the Americans because the British took their property, according to the British. Also according to the British, America would not have prevailed if it were not for France and Spain.

How Britain Felt

We, British, believe that Patriots were pinhead fools that caused the "Boston Tea Party" and the Boston "Massacre" for no apparent reason. Their reasoning was freedom, but how is a dysfunctional government that doesn't serve the people's needs free? We only wanted all the smuggling and bribery that their "Founding Fathers" were committing (especially George Washington.) The colonists owed us for all the years of protection we gave them. They are indebted to us and should appreciate, not revolt against us. The colonists should've never gone to war because many of "them" died. Contrary to the general public's beliefs, we British despised war greatly.

Population Breakdown

The British Colonies had a wide variety of people that settled there. The "American" leaders only made up about 27% of the population while in Long Island, 90% of the population there were loyalists. We made up 40% of the population (another 33% were loyalists who didn't want to be considered a "loser." Most Iroquois also stayed loyal and since they were the first ones here, they must know what they're talking about. Patriots only made up about 40% of the population. The British would've won if only it weren't for the French helping the "Americans." We had fought many wars against France and when George Washington, and his spies, made his sneak attack on Christmas, he caught us off guard because only pinhead salvages don't celebrate Christmas. We would've won the war, but those cretin Patriots could only kill, tar and/or feather the loyalists who deserved to live a great life.

Interesting Facts About Well-Known Leaders

In the website, http://www.redcoat.me.uk/,(that you can learn more about in an earlier post) it suggested that the first president of the United States of America, George Washington, was not who we thought he was. The article says"

Washington had became one of the wealthiest men in the Americas by marrying into as much money as he could." This clearly contradicts what I have been taught in traditional schooling. Now while this website is obviously a little bit biased, there have been some accounts on Washington's faults. In a magazine called "Smithsonian" it reported that George Washington said, "want of experience to move on a large scale," about his military expertise. Also Washington did not understand the significance of the war in the Southern states and did not commit troops there until Congress ordered him too. This was a grave mistake because once the troops were there, it was too late to prevent surrender of Charleston. Not even Congress was aware that the French, not George Washington came up with the plan to pave the way for America's triumph. In 1796 a well-known man named Thomas Paine(who was in France at that time) wrote a letter(Letter to George Washington) that claimed George's achievements were "

fraudulent". Now assuming that all of this is true, I submit that the British had an excellent reason to be irked. Think about it for a minute; The entire country of America is teaching the youth that George Washington is a hero when the truth is that he was not responsible for the American victory. I would be extremely livid if I were British. I would also be extremely provoked considering that I have been lied about to an extent (during school). I am not saying that George Washington was not a great leader, merely I am proposing that he just was not the amazing strategist and tatician that the general public of America primarily perceive him to be. But perhaps this is why some of the British might get irritated when the subject of the Revolutionary War comes up.

All About Loyalists

Loyalists are people who remained loyal to the British during the American Revolution. We were citizens that resisted innovation, thought resistance to the crown was wrong, and believed we were alienated by the Patriots. We were believed to be "Procrastinators of Freedom"and afraid of tyranny. The Patriots forced us loyalists and the Quakers to move to Canada, while they stayed to run their "free" country. We were wealthier so we were should've forced the daft "Patriots" out of this country and stayed for ourselves. We lived in the middle colonies, so we killed as many as we could on our way to Canada.

Why the British Felt the Americans Owed Them

According to the British, the Americans owed Britain for several reasons. The British did provide America with some protection. The British also felt that they purveyed British culture. This means that Britain provided Americans with their culture. The country of Britain also bestowed America with manufacturers. For these reasons, Britain felt that the Americans were indebted to them so when the Americans wanted freedom, the British felt that Americans were not being appreciative and felt that America deserved everything that happened to them. Since Britain did these things for them, they just thought that America was being ungrateful instead of maybe considering America's side of the story.

The Amount of People in Revolutionary War

There were a significant amount of British soldiers in the Revolutionary War. At one point, there were 50,000 British soldiers in battle at one time. That is a huge amount for 18th century battle. At first the British had 25,000 Hessians(German hired soldiers) and 5,000 Americans(presumably Loyalists) fighting for them. 50 redcoats held off 3,000 rebels for a few days until the Royal Navy arrived. From all of these facts, I can deduce that this war meant a lot to the British. I wouldn't send out 50,000 soldiers at once for nothing. Clearly, the British really wanted this war to be theirs. The British were willing to send out a huge amount of people when they were fully aware that a great sum of them would not return. I would not risk countless lives unless I extremely needed the war.
